Goodbye Elder Bryan Mortensen

Well I guess you could say my blog has been put on the back burner. I have so much to blog about for journalling purposes. I just have been putting it off because I feel like I never have enough time. Well I am finally going to work on my blog. For those few people who still follow my blog I apologize. I will try to be better I promise. I love reading blogs to see what others are up to.

The months of March and April we traveled A LOT. I needed the whole month of May to recover. Here is what we have been up to. In January Jeff once again switched careers and he is now selling soda machines again. He sold soda machines back when we were dating and first married. He works with his younger brother Mark. Their shop is in Phoenix but they sell machines in Texas, Utah, Nevada, and California. If you need a pop machine or cooler let me know. We will be sure to give you a great deal.

My younger Brother Bryan as most of you know got his mission call to Finland. March 6th, Bryan went through the Mesa temple for the first time. Jeff and I drove from San Antonio to Dallas to Phoenix to be there with my brother. We had to go to Dallas first to pick up Jeff's new 24 foot long trailer.

I enjoyed being at the temple with my family. I felt my mother's presence so strongly. The next day which was Sunday my brother gave his farewell talk at church. Some of our cousins from California (the Abeyta's) came out to hear him speak. Also some of my cousins from Mesa (Russell, Donny, and Melissa Mortensen) came as well. After church we had a family get together. We ate and enjoyed each others company.

That Thursday, March 11th Jeff had I headed back to San Antonio. We had things we had to take care of here. We were in San Atonio for about a week and then we headed back to Phoenix. We wanted to take my brother to the MTC and Jeff had soda machines to deliver in Vegas and Utah as well. My brother reported to the MTC Wednesday March 31st.

We went up to Vegas on Monday March 29th and we stayed at the Golden Nugget. The new tower of the Golden Nugget is very nice and the pool is awesome. They have a slide that goes through a shark tank. Tuesday morning we headed for Provo. We met my Sister Melissa who is attending BYU for dinner that night. We ate at Brick oven Pizza. It was so yummy. The next morning the we took Bryan to the MTC. I can't believe he is 19 already. It was so neat to see all the missionaries and their families saying their goodbyes. I am so excited for my brother and for the experiences he will have. Here are some pictures we took with Bryan before he left.

I took this picture of Brayden and Bryan when we were leaving the Golden Nugget Hotel. Brayden would hang on the back of Bryan's suitcase while he was pulling it. It was hilarious.

Here we all are with Bryan at Brick oven pizza. The pizza was so good. We had to take a picture of our last supper with Bryan for the next two years.

I love this picture. My dad was so happy to get Bryan off on his mission. We had to take a picture next to the famous MTC sign. As we were leaving this sign Brayden kept asking us what we were doing. We told him we were dropping Uncle Bryan off so he could be a missionary for our church. We told him when he was big and strong one day he would go too. He asked if we could go with him. We told him no he would go all by himself. He then replied by saying " I do not want to be a missionary." I guess we have 15 more years to change his mind!

Jeff and I stayed with our good friends Kingston and Kristi while we were in Utah. We had so much fun with them. It even snowed while we were in Utah. I was able to see the new Draper Temple. I got to do some shopping at University mall, Rod Works and Down East Basics Outlet store. We also ate at some yummy restaurants. Thanks guys for letting us stay with you. We had a blast.
